The coming of cold, dark and now snow in Boulder always lowers my mood. I just smiled reading your post and it helped. Thank you for the reminder.

I am so glad that post gave you a smile, and that lifted your mood for this Monday. It's the dark time of the year and a dark time in the world. Thanks for sharing your smile with us here. That helps too. :)

I was born under Saturn and while I'm a cheerful person, my Saturn-self has always welcomes gray days. Here in hot, cloudless south-central Texas, we don't get enough of them. So I welcomed this morning's chilly rain with gratefulness, Susan--and your post, with its beautifully-contrasting photo, reminding me that I can appreciate the light because I so welcome the dark.

I always try to remember that it's the shadows that help us appreciate the light, and thank you for that reminder that for some of us, the gray days are welcome. I would welcome this one more, I suspect, if it wasn't so cold--inside and out--and if the clouds had brought us any moisture at all. But no dice. We're still dust-dry. Enjoy your rain and gray!

Thank you. I love this. I needed this today. Today we have sun for the first time in a week.

We've had the most torrential rain today, honestly it's the most rain I've ever seen, in any country (even in monsoons) in the space of a few hours. We were on the highway when it hit and couldn't believe it, but amazingly, everyone slowed down to a very reasonable speed, kept a sensible distance from one another, it was all so orderly, especially in contrast to the chaos of the deluge.

All that to say, we found ourselves smiling at the sheer force of it. Our heavy hearts were lifted by the heavy rains.

Thank you for the reminder to smile, Susan. Wishing you a warmer afternoon, and many more smiles throughout the day.

Oh, to have rain! I'm glad that you were able to navigate through hit safely, and that everyone else on the highway was respectful and slowed down. That is truly a blessing, and a reminder that we humans can behave with care, even if we often don't. And the torrential rain--I remember rain, but it's been many weeks of dry, dry, dry here.

Thank you for sharing your experience, for that benediction, and for the wonderful essays you write on Death & Birds. Blessings and smiles to you.
