aspens light autumn flaring copper and gold brightening gloom
Let’s start our week with some beauty to offset the grim news. I’m not a believer in hiding my head in the sand—ignorance is never bliss—but I do believe in reminding ourselves that there is more to life than humanity and our wars.
My daily haiku/haibun is my form of a gratitude journal. (And yes, while it may sound simplistic and sappy, there is strong research showing the positive mental/emotional/physical effects of taking time each day to find something to be grateful for, especially in the hardest of times.) I share it with you to say thank you for reading and supporting my work. And also to remind us all that if we take the time to look for beauty and succor, we will find it.
I shot this photo from the back of my favorite equine quadruped, Sal, a Missouri Foxtrotter. She refused to slow down for me to take the picture because she knew were on our way back to the trailhead after a long day’s ride, and she was in her horse-headed-to-the-barn gait, an extended walk that is comfortable and eats up the trail miles!
Thanks for the haiku, the photo and your wise words from the heart.
I attempted to insert a photo but it doesn't seem to have taken... Sorry!

Thanks to you (and Sal) for sharing a golden moment!
